FAQs

Can red light therapy help with hair growth?

Research suggests that low-level laser and LED therapy can improve hair density in people with androgenetic alopecia. Evidence is currently stronger for pattern hair loss than for many other forms of hair loss.

How often should I use my LED hair cap?

Our research-informed routine is approximately three times per week for 20–25 minutes per session, used consistently over several months. Published clinical protocols vary considerably depending on the particular light-therapy device.

How long should I continue using it?

We suggest consistent use for at least four months, with up to six months providing a more useful period for assessing your individual response. Clinical research has commonly evaluated outcomes over periods of approximately 16–24 weeks.

Do I need to use it every day?

No. Several clinical trials have produced positive findings using treatment approximately three times per week or every other day, although some devices have been studied with daily use.

Can women use a red light therapy cap?

Yes. Low-level red light therapy has been studied specifically in women with pattern hair loss. One randomized, double-blind study evaluated women using a 655 nm laser/LED helmet every other day for 16 weeks and reported a significantly greater increase in hair counts with active treatment than with sham treatment.

Does red light therapy guarantee hair regrowth?

No. Results vary between individuals. Factors such as the cause and extent of hair loss, age, genetics, treatment parameters and consistency of use may affect outcomes.

What if I'm experiencing sudden or unexplained hair loss?

Hair loss has many possible causes. Sudden, severe, patchy or unexplained hair loss should be assessed by a GP or dermatologist rather than relying solely on an at-home light-therapy device.
